Have You Prayed About it?

Introduction:

Is there something in your life that is troubling you? If yes, have you prayed about it? If not, pause just now and turn your eyes the Lord God and talk to your Father in heaven. If you have but nothing has happened, continue until it does. There are many reasons why you should take every opportunity to pray. The bible has some great examples of prayer, I share 5 of them below:

1. The Prayer of Jacob:

Jacob’s prayer was answered in the wonderful interview at Peniel, that resulted in his having such a mighty blessing, and in softening the heart of his brother Esau. He prayed, I will not let You go unless You bless me!—Genesis 32:26.The season of distress and anguish before us will require a faith that can endure weariness, delay, and hunger—a faith that will not faint though severely tried. When waves of despair which no language can express sweep over the suppliant, how few cling with unyielding faith to the promises of God.

2. The Prayer of Elijah:

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James 5:17, 18. The servant watched while Elijah prayed. Six times he returned from the watch, saying, There is nothing, no cloud, no sign of rain. But the prophet did not give up in discouragement. As he searched his heart it seemed to him that he was nothing, and that God was everything; and when he reached the point of renouncing self, while he clung to the Saviour as his only strength and righteousness, the answer came.

3. Samson’s Prayer:

Samson’s prayer “And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, Remember me.” Judges 16:28. He was a restored backslider, and he had power with God. If those who have been backsliders will but return to God, they will see how quickly God will answer prayer. The contest, instead of being between Samson and the Philistines, was now between Jehovah and Dagon, and thus the Lord was moved to assert His almighty power and His supreme authority.

4. Daniel’s Prayer:

Daniel’s prayer “And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: and I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession. Daniel 9:3, 4. Daniel prayed to God, and Gabriel came to tell him that he was a man greatly beloved of God. Three times that message came to him from heaven in answer to prayer. The secrets of heaven were imparted to him, and he was told that God’s Son was going to be cut off for the sins of His people.

5. Paul & Silas Prayer:

At midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. Acts 16:25, 26. Look at Paul and Silas in the prison at Philippi. With astonishment the other prisoners heard the sound of prayer and singing issuing from the inner prison. As they prayed and sang praises, the place was shaken, and the jailer was converted.

6. Jesus a man of Prayer:

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35. Jesus Himself, while He dwelt among men, was often in prayer. We read that Christ prayed to His Father for everything. Every great crisis in His life was preceded by prayer. Let me quote a few passages.

Conclusion:

There are nine elements which are essential to true prayer. The first is Adoration; we must approach God as One far beyond our reach or sight. The next is Confession; sin must be put out of the way. Restitution is another; we have to make good the wrong, wherever possible. Thanksgiving is the next; we must be thankful for what God has done for us already. Then comes Forgiveness, and then Unity; and then for prayer, such as these things produce, there must be Faith. After all these, there must come Submission. While praying, we must be ready to accept the will of God.

The 5 Secrets of Answered Prayer

Introduction

“Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary, in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him.”—Steps to Christ, p. 93.  There is no uncertainty about God’s desire to have us come to Him with all our needs. He admonishes us, “‘Press your petitions to the throne, and hold on by strong faith.’ “—Early Writings, p. 73.  What a comfort it is to know that our heavenly Father always gives what is for our highest good—”that which we ourselves would desire if with vision divinely enlightened we could see all things as they really are” (Steps to Christ, p. 96).

Secret#1 Faith

Faith is essential. It is not enough to say, “I believe;” we must exercise the living faith that claims the promises of God as our own, knowing that they are sure and steadfast. Do not worry. By looking at appearances and complaining when difficulty and pressure come, you reveal a sickly, enfeebled faith. By your words and your works show that your faith is invincible. The Lord is rich in resources. He owns the world. Look to Him who has light, and power, and efficiency. He will bless everyone who is seeking to communicate light and love. According to your faith be it unto you” (Matt. 9:29) . “All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matt. 21:22).

Secret#2 Obedience

Obedience is required. All true obedience comes from the heart. It was heart work with Christ.  The will, refined and sanctified, will find its highest delight in doing His service. Those who decide to do nothing in any line that will displease God will know, after presenting their case before Him, just what course to pursue. And they will receive not only wisdom, but strength. Power for obedience, for service, will be imparted to them, as Christ has promised (The Desire of Ages, 667, 668).And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight” (1 John 3:22). “Only as we live in obedience to His word can we claim … His promises.” —The Ministry of Healing, p. 227.

Secret#3 Confession

Confession is necessary. Those who have not humbled their souls before God in acknowledging their guilt, have not yet fulfilled the first condition of acceptance. If we have not experienced that repentance which is not to be repented of, and have not with true humiliation of soul and brokenness of spirit confessed our sins, abhorring our iniquity, we have never truly sought for the forgiveness of sin; and if we have never sought, we have never found the peace of God. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Ps. 66:18). “He [the Lord] waits with unwearied love to hear the confessions of the wayward and to accept their penitence.”—Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, p. 84.

Secret#4 Deep Earnestness

Deep earnestness needed.   The soul that turns to God for its help, its support, its power, by daily, earnest prayer, will have noble aspirations, clear perceptions of truth and duty, lofty purposes of action, and a continual hungering and thirsting after righteousness.  Neglect the exercise of prayer, or engage in prayer spasmodically, now and then, as seems convenient, and you lose your hold on God. The spiritual faculties lose their vitality, the religious experience lacks health and vigor.—(Messages to Young People, 249, 250.)”When with earnestness and intensity we breathe a prayer in the name of Christ, there is in that very intensity a pledge from God that He is about to answer our prayer ‘exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.’ “—Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 147.

Secret#5 Prevailing in Prayer

Do Not Let Go of God’s Promises—Every saint who comes to God with a true heart, and sends his honest petitions to Him in faith, will have his prayers answered. Your faith must not let go of the promises of God, if you do not see or feel the immediate answer to your prayers. Be not afraid to trust God. Rely upon His sure promise: “Ask, and ye shall receive.”  What a wonder it is that we pray so little! God is ready and willing to hear the sincere prayer of the humblest of His children, and yet there is much manifest reluctance on our part to make known our wants to God. Chronicles 16:11, ESV Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! Psalm 40:1, ESV I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. Colossians 4:2, NIV Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Conclusion:

From the secret place of prayer came the power that shook the world in the Great Reformation. There, with holy calmness, the servants of the Lord set their feet upon the rock of His promises. During the struggle at Augsburg, Luther “did not pass a day without devoting three hours at least to prayer, and they were hours selected from those the most favorable to study.” In the privacy of his chamber he was heard to pour out his soul before God in words “full of adoration, fear, and hope, as when one speaks to a friend.”(The Great Controversy, 210.)

A Prayer For All Mothers.

Image by Juanita Mulder from Pixabay

My Prayer:

As I went on my knees today, I whispered a prayer for each of you. My prayer went like this:

Waiting Mothers;

Lord, I would like to start with the waiting mothers. You know them all by name, as you have their names written in the palm of your hand. Many times before dear Lord, you opened the wombs of waiting women. Remember Sarah, Rachel, Hannah & Elizabeth. Place in the wombs of these beautiful women, children who will change the cause of this world history. As you did with the women who waited before.

Expectant Mothers:

I bring to you Lord, the expectant mothers. For some its their first pregnancy, while for others it’s not. Lord give both mother and unborn child good health. Speak peace to the anxious hearts and teach them how to prepare well for the special gifts. Go ahead my Lord, to the day of their delivery and put in place everything for there to be a safe delivery.

Young Mothers:

I remember now the young mothers, for Lord you know I have also been one. Please give them wisdom, strength, courage and a calm spirit to raise children who will bear seeds of righteousness. Keep the mothers healthy and strong. Give these young mothers endurance and perseverance for you know Lord the challenges each one of them faces.

Mothers of Special Children:

I have a really special prayer for all the mothers with really special children. These are the apple of your eye Lord. For you know the rejection and hardship they bear. Please give them a double portion of your favour, you know how much they need it. Pour you abundant provisions into their big hearts to continue powering them through each day. Hold them close dear Lord, they need you every second of their day.

Mother’s who have lost their husbands:

I lift up the mothers who have lost their husbands dear Master. You are the husband to the widows Lord. Take your place by their side and give them courage, protection and joy. Be the source of their provision Lord. May they lack no good thing. Put a hedge of fire around about them.

Mother’s who have lost their children:

Into your hands dear Lord, I place the mothers that have lost their children. Send your Holy Spirit to comfort with them and wipe away their tears. May they be comforted today. Place into their hearts the hope of the new heaven and the new earth.

Single Mothers:

I place before you the single mothers. You alone understand their struggles and heartaches. Give them each day their daily bread and shield them from all evil with your righteous right hand. Help them grow their faith in you as their source of everything.

Aged Mothers:

I have one more special group of mothers Lord, these are the aged. Lord provide for them helpers to take care of them. You know they are now feeble and cannot take care of themselves. Provide for them dear Lord, that they may lack no good thing. Protect them for incidences and accidents of any kind. Put your hedge of fire around them.

Prayers for All Mothers:

Lord as I come to end of my prayer today. I know all these mothers face the same challenges each day. Lord heal those who are sick. Comfort those who are bereaved. Embrace those who are neglected or abandoned. Provide for all the needs of these beautiful women. Strengthen their backs to overcome the challenges that may come their way. Draw them to continuously look up to you for all their needs.

Thank you for all our mothers:

Dear Lord thank you for each and every mother, remind each one today how precious they are. In Jesus Name I pray – Amen.
