Keep On Moving

Introduction

Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” When we come to what seems like no where and the road ahead is unending, we sometimes feel like just giving up all hope of getting to our destination.

The Hurt

The days have turned to weeks, then to months and now the year is almost over. As the curtain is closing on the year, your feet are getting heavier. The road ahead is getting more treacherous and your strength is waning. Looking back at where you have come from is not an option, there is so much pain, heartache and disappointment back there. A pained wince escapes your lips when you try to remember what your journey has been like. The last few months have been a world of hurt to you.

The Options

It was first the loss of your job or was it the terrible incidence with your best friend? It does not really matter now, both are now lost and all that is left is an empty wallet and no one to talk or laugh with. Life seems empty like the road before you. Then, just then you remember. Exodus 14:15 “And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.“With faith and trust let us go forward in the word that the Lord has given us, assured that He will be with us as our Helper and Protector. .

Go Forward

“For the Lord is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” “O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him” … “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Here are promises, rich and abundant, upon condition that you cease to do evil and learn to do well.

The Challenge

Satan will oppose your efforts to advance. Your path will not always be smooth, but there are encouragements in God’s rich promises. The Lord has pledged His word that in every effort toward righteousness He will help us. We are weak and without wisdom, but God has said: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

The Conclusion

Words spoken in season, how good are they! How much strength a word of hope, courage, and determination in a right course will give one who is inclined to slide into habits that are demoralizing! The firm purpose you may possess in carrying out good principles will have an influence to balance souls in the right direction. Albert Einstein says “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving forward.” The road no longer seems dreary or intimidating, your legs receive new strength and with a song in your heart you take a step into what lies ahead. Knowing that the Lord is with you!
